Over the past few weeks we have been in a series of lessons that we are calling A Whoville Christmas. We are asking and answering questions like, “Who were the angels?” and “Who were Mary and Joseph?” We have been looking at them to see life lessons that God is saying to us through them. Today, we conclude the Above the Ceiling series looking at various questions about prayer. Today we are going look at Jesus answer to the question, “How do I pray?” We are going to be in Matthew 6, but according to Luke 11 what started Jesus’ teaching on prayer was the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. To help them in their prayer life Jesus said in Matthew 6, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today the food we need, 12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. 13 And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. [For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen]” (vs. 9-13, NLT). Before we start unpacking this prayer, let me give you some general observations. Continue reading
